What to put on a business card: examples for different professions

September 27, 20265 min read

A good business card answers three questions: who you are, how you can help and how to reach you. Everything else is better left out. Here is what to include, with examples for different professions.

What every business card needs

  • Your full name.
  • Your specialty in one line. Not “specialist”, but “personal trainer” or “marketer for online schools”.
  • Contacts. A phone number and one or two messengers where you actually reply.
  • Social links or a website, if your work is there.

What to leave out

  • Long lists of services. Pick the main one.
  • Every social network you have. Keep the ones you use.
  • Abbreviations and job titles only your company understands.

One line about yourself

Under your name, add a short line about how you help. Keep it simple and specific. Compare “I help businesses grow” with “I run ads for coffee shops and beauty salons”. People remember the second one.

Examples for different professions

Marketer
“I run ads and measure results in leads.” On the back: 2–3 case studies with numbers.

Personal trainer
“Personal training. I help you get fit without injuries.” On the back: training formats, gyms and prices.

Videographer
“I shoot commercials, music videos and events.” On the back: a link to your showreel.

Personal shopper
“I find and buy items for your request.” On the back: terms and delivery times.

What to add to a digital card

A digital business card has more room than paper, but that is no reason to write a lot. Keep the front short and move the details to the back: case studies, achievements, prices, reviews.

In short

Name, specialty, one clear line and the contacts where you reply. Move the details to the back of the card or to links.
